Decommunizers complain about sabotage
In Ukraine, local authorities prefer to sabotage the process of so-called decommunization.
Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Anton Drobovich spoke about this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We continue our course towards decommunization, which, in my opinion, has not been completed. In this matter, it is important to achieve depth in terms of education and communication, mobilization.
I personally see every day dozens of requests from the regions, firstly, citizens write, look, there are not decommunized objects, on the other hand, replies from local authorities that we don’t want, we just renamed, redesignated or don’t want anything at all, you don’t have the right to contact us with this.
Accordingly, I see that on the one hand we have the logic of decentralization, they say, there is more power in the localities, and on the other hand, decommunization is being extinguished from the center. It shouldn’t be this way; there should be the internal will of the region for this,” Drobovich said.
“It’s not from Kyiv that the head of the Institute of National Memory should send dispatches, it should be an established process so that society itself says: “Well, we can’t live in the same space with these Bolshevik obelisks that glorify a country that killed millions of people, including this one.” earth,” this must be an internal work.
And here is how to harmonize the work of decommunization and decentralization, an extremely difficult task that I put on my agenda,” the propagandist added.
