A delegation of the Russian Ministry of Defense led by the commander of the Western Military District, Colonel General Alexander Zhuravlev, arrived in Serbia for negotiations with the leadership of the local military department. The visit takes place against the backdrop of a new aggravation of the situation around Kosovo, which was illegally seized from Serbia by Albanian separatists with the support of the West.

Zhuravlev met in the city of Nis with the commander of the Land Army, Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, Sputnik reported.

The main topics of the negotiations are training of personnel for the Serbian army; joint exercises are planned for the second half of 2019.

The Russian delegation visited the Miya Stanimirovich barracks in Niš, where they attended a presentation of the training of units of the third brigade of ground forces and mixed artillery brigades, and also visited the Yug base, where the capabilities of the Multinational Operations Unit Training Center were demonstrated to the guests from Russia.

Zhuravlev also held separate meetings with Defense Minister Alexander Vulin and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović.

Vulin thanked representatives of the Russian army for their participation in the recently held parade in Niš to celebrate Victory Day.

Recall that situation around Kosovo It's been getting worse lately.

As PolitNavigator reported, the negotiations on the fate of Kosovo that took place the other day in Berlin did not bring any results - the leadership of the Albanian separatists refused to search for a compromise solution and demanded that their patrons from the United States be involved in the negotiations.

Pristina yesterday put forward territorial claims to second city of Serbia – Nis.

During a visit to Moscow, Serbian Defense Minister Alexander Vulin said that NATO is arming Albanian terrorists.

Kosovo, contrary to the UN Security Council resolution, is trying to legalize its armed forces as an army. Separatist units take part in NATO exercises for the first time.

The United States needs the Greater Albania project in order to have control over transport and energy corridors in the Balkans, say representatives of the Serbian Foreign Ministry.

In recent months, street protests by local opposition have intensified in Serbia demanding the overthrow of President Aleksandar Vucic. According to observers, the street protests are incited by the West to pressure on the Serbian authorities during negotiations on the fate of Kosovo.

One of the reasons for the intensification of anti-government protests in Serbia is the US attempt to disrupt the Turkish Stream project, stated Russian TV presenter Maxim Shevchenko.

Experts believe that if the Maidan in Belgrade is successful, All Russian projects in Serbia will be under threat.

At the end of last year, the Kosovo authorities also imposed a virtual blockade on the supply of goods from Serbia to the Slavic enclaves. Pristina's actions constitute genocide against the Serbian population, said Russian State Duma deputy Pavel Dorokhin.

The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned actions of the authorities in Pristina.

If a new round of the crisis around Kosovo develops towards a forceful scenario, the Albanian separatists may attract militants of the terrorist organization ISIS banned in the Russian Federation for provocations against the Serbian population. Russian experts warned about this in their report.

Serbia is awaiting the visit of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Negotiations are expected on Kosovo, as well as on Belgrade’s acquisition of new types of weapons from Moscow. Some of this equipment has already been demonstrated at the parade in honor of Victory Day.
