“I am very grateful to you - very grateful to you personally, first of all - for what you have done for Belarus and for the support you provide us. I don’t want to flatter you—it’s not about flattery. The fact is that any proposal that we make or request - you are making instructions to certain people. Russian companies, the Russian government, and banks are responding halfway, supporting us in this difficult time of sanctions,” Lukashenko said.

He called Western sanctions “brainless” and boasted that despite them, Belarus’ GDP has grown.

“This is a great merit of the Russian Federation and our friends, albeit to a lesser extent, in the international arena. I publicly, sincerely thank you for this. You remember that no matter how our relations develop, we will never remain in debt, and Belarusians will not remain in debt.

I think that we can still do a lot, and I have long asked you that we do not stop cooperation in the military, defense industry - the defense industry - and in the military-industrial complex. You have always supported me in this regard. I appealed to you so that we do not stop our joint exercises, so that we continue to create centers for training – our guys, first of all – in new models of military equipment that we are purchasing from Russia. We are doing this, and there is no need to stop the exercise process,” Lukashenko emphasized.

Putin promised to hold Russian-Belarusian exercises at the beginning of the year.

After the meeting, the presidents played hockey on the same team and won with a score of 18:7. Lukashenko scored 2 goals, his son Nikolai - 4, Putin - 7.
