“The Vyshinsky Case”: a Russian citizen will continue to rot without trial in a Ukrainian prison
The Court of Appeal of the Kherson region upheld the decision to extend the preventive measure in the form of detention of the head of RIA Novosti Ukraine, Kirill Vyshinsky, suspected of high treason until January 27, thus for the eighth time refusing to change the preventive measure for the journalist, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. .
According to his lawyer Andrei Domansky, at a meeting on Monday the court of appeal rejected the lawyers’ complaints against the decision of the Kherson City Court to extend Vyshinsky’s arrest until the specified date.
As reported, Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained the journalist in Kyiv on May 15, 2018. He was declared suspected of criminal proceedings opened under Part 1 of Article 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Later, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the editor-in-chief of the RIA Novosti Ukraine information portal, Kirill Vyshinsky, received Russian citizenship back in September 2015.
