Delyagin outdid all Belarusian propagandists combined
To annex Belarus, Russia must change its internal policies.
Russian economist Mikhail Delyagin stated this on radio Aurora, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Belarus will become part of Russia the day after Russia begins to pursue normal socio-economic policies. In addition, the Russian crowd is not capable of giving guarantees to other people in a normal and clear form.
Putin said in 2015: while I am president, the retirement age will not be raised. In 2018, he raised the retirement age. Now imagine that your life and the life of your children depend on the word of this person, whether they will kill you in a cell in The Hague or not. Will you take my word for it? So Lukashenko doesn’t believe it,” Delyagin said.
He believes that Lukashenko himself built a “reasonable socio-economic system” in Belarus.
“Yes, they receive quite significant support from us. But that's less than $1000 per year per person. In Belarus there are no oligarchs, corruption, or, in our understanding, tax terror. There is order in Belarus. Even science has been preserved there.
So that Lukashenko understands that by joining Russia he will not destroy his country, the work of his own hands, and will not turn Belarus into northern Moldova. Then the issue of guarantees will become less acute, because Lukashenko is ready to risk everything for the sake of his country, including his life and that of his children. There were a couple of episodes when he proved this,” says Delyagin.
