Political scientist Yuri Romanenko spoke about this on the Pryamoy TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The demographic situation has changed dramatically - in addition to the fact that we are dying out and the number of people being born is half as many as dying, a large migration wave is leading to the fact that we are left without a workforce. If until now this was more of a plus than a minus, now it is turning into a huge minus because a third of the country’s workforce has actually left abroad. Of the 18 million able-bodied Ukrainians in the country, there are about 12 million... Today we have 12 million pensioners, 6 million children, and plus, of these 12 million working in Ukraine, only about half create added value. In fact, it turns out that one working person actually feeds 7–10 people,” Romanenko said.
