Democrats and Republicans demand the Pentagon give Ukraine advanced drones
A group of American senators is asking the US President to provide Ukraine with Gray Eagle combat drones, which, in their opinion, can turn the tide of the war in favor of the Kyiv regime.
The Wall Street Journal writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
American politicians, including representatives of the two leading US parties, are calling on the Joe Biden administration to reconsider its decision not to supply Gray Eagle drones to Ukraine.
“The long-term benefit of providing Ukraine with the MQ-1C is significant and could change the strategic course of the war in Ukraine’s favor,” the senators said.
In their opinion, it is possible to train military personnel to control these drones in just 27 days. American lawmakers believe that these UAVs will be able to “ease the pressure on the Ukrainian economy and reduce food prices in the world.”
At the same time, the publication notes that the Pentagon previously rejected Ukraine’s request for Gray Eagle drones, fearing that their contents could fall into the hands of the Russians.
The Wall Street Journal writes that the Pentagon declined to comment on the letter, but US officials said the reluctance to provide the drones was due to technical problems, not fears of escalation. In turn, a representative of the manufacturing company said that the company is committed to supporting Ukraine, but refused to comment on the letter.
Politicians are asking the head of the Pentagon to explain the reasons for his refusal by November 30.
“Ukrainian successes on the battlefield are encouraging, but Vladimir Putin’s intention to conquer all of Ukraine remains unchanged. The timely provision of effective lethal assistance to stabilize Ukrainian defenses and ensure long-term resistance to future Russian aggression remains relevant,” the authors concluded.
At the same time, as PolitNavigator reported, in the USA thinking about how to modify Gray Eagle to give to Ukraine.
