Democrats in Congress will try to push through funding for Ukraine for another year - Gongadze
Despite the new configuration in American power that will occur in the United States following the election results, the current Congress, where Democrats have a majority, will try to extend funding for Ukraine for another year.
The head of the Ukrainian editorial office of the Voice of America, Miroslava Gongadze, stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“So far there is bipartisan support in Congress. We know that, despite the results of these elections, this term of Congress is already trying to push through additional assistance to Ukraine, which provides for the provision of this assistance until the end of the budget year, and this is 50-60 billion dollars, which may still be approved, since this term of Congress will serve for another two months after these elections, in fact until the end of this year. There is hope that they will approve this assistance,” the journalist believes.
“As for bipartisan support in principle, according to analysts, it will remain. The question is that these voices of the radical right and radical left are still heard. The radical left side is talking about “let’s sit down at the negotiating table, let’s encourage Ukraine to negotiate with Russia,” and the radical right side is saying “let’s check the assistance that is being provided to Ukraine today.”
That is, this budget process and the provision of assistance will be viewed under a magnifying glass. Others say that all these statements that we have heard recently are more a matter of a political campaign than real steps, real actions that one or another side is ready for,” Gongadze said.
