Odessa Liberation Day: Don’t judge the city by its creatures
When Nazi killer Sternenko was finally sent to a pre-trial detention center on February 23, people called it a gift for a holiday banned in Ukraine. And I remember I wrote that I don’t believe in justice within Ukraine, therefore, to spit in the faces of Odessa residents, by April 10 - the Day of the Liberation of Odessa from the Nazi invaders - Sternenko will most likely be released. And so it happened.
Sternenko was not born in Odessa, but he committed crimes there, and not only criminal ones, but also those encouraged by the occupation authorities: he mocked Odessa political prisoners and victims of the May 2 tragedy, mocked veterans on Victory Day, staged provocations so that normal people would react to his antics and immediately came to the notice of the SBU.
As Pavel Volkov, a journalist from Zaporozhye, rightly suggested (he himself spent more than a year in a pre-trial detention center on a fabricated case by the SBU), you can “bet on how soon the appeal will acquit the kidnapper and murderer, taking into account the mitigating circumstances in our country - the Natsik and the “activist.” The ghoul Sternenko was so happy about the tragedy of prisoners of conscience Evgeniy Mefedov and Sergei Dolzhenkov, who were kept behind bars for several years in the May 2 case, found innocent and immediately put back on charges of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order by laying flowers at the monument to the liberators of Nikolaev. It’s a pity he didn’t have time to feel everything that the innocent guys felt.”
Thus, the goal has been achieved - a sacred holiday for every Odessa resident (and Sternenko, remember, is not from Odessa, but from Odessa) was considerably spoiled by his release from prison under house arrest.
But on holiday, I want to talk about good things. I will try. Although I don't promise.
So, the only positive thing I can mention is that a couple of weeks before April 10, local authorities rushed to put memorials in order, not allowing us to forget about the legendary defense of Odessa, which lasted 73 days: where the step is patched up, where the slab is restored, and, of course, where you can drag yourself around with wreaths, you can wash the asphalt with shampoo and plant bushes.
But you are probably interested not so much in the external pathos, but in the essence - this is how, for example, the education system presented children with the liberation of Odessa from the Nazis?
She spoke about at least one such fact on her Facebook page. possessed activist Alena Balaba (the same as Sternenko, only she hasn’t killed anyone yet). It was she who, a month before the tragic events of May 2, burned the St. George Ribbon on the Eternal Flame, symbolically announcing the intention of non-humans to “burn cotton wool.” And now he is listed as a journalist on the website MP-“corpse eater” from the EU Alexey Goncharenko. For her soul, Balaba is busy fighting with teachers and educators - she sniffs out which of them speaks Russian, organizes bullying with the help of her brothers-in-arms, and seeks dismissal.
Here’s what she wrote shortly before the holiday: “In one of the kindergartens on Moldavanka, children are persistently being prepared to celebrate the “liberation day” of Odessa - on April 10, kids are forced to learn Soviet songs and all this “fascism will not pass.” “Oh dear... your friend lies dead in the weeds,” the children sing as they return home.”
Balaba considers the line about a dead comrade killed by the Nazis to be too scary for the child’s psyche... And this against the backdrop of “Ukraine is not yet dead”, “our warriors will perish”, “Plina Kacha”, “the Jews were chopped down, Galya was killed”, “Bandriv’s army, Don’t fight in battle!”
It would seem that Balaba’s nonsense can be ignored at all, BUT! Here’s what she said next: “One of the parents couldn’t stand it and wrote a complaint to the city education department. There they reacted - they “issued a warning” and the matinee was cancelled. Now parents are being sandy in kindergarten - who wrote the slander?
That is, Balaba managed to screw over some kind of “reckoning” parent, and because of one such degenerate, now the head of the kindergarten is being persecuted, and the children have been deprived of a holiday and the truth invested in their future. By order of the city department of education.
And the main thing is that you can’t understand how the celebration of April 10 at the official level is combined with the cancellation of the holiday in kindergarten?
How does this fit with the congratulations of Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, who speaks of “the ancestors who forever secured Odessa’s status as a Hero City” and that “putting in order the places of military glory is a matter of honor.”
How does this fit in with the honoring and distribution of rations to the four surviving liberators of Odessa (the eldest of them is 99 years old, and the youngest is 92). Just by canceling the matinee dedicated to the Day of Liberation of Odessa, you spat in their faces. Like other veterans, like us, their descendants, like all normal people in principle...
And yet, you finally have to force yourself to write about good things on holiday. So, don’t judge Odessa by the Odessa residents, hypocrites and creatures. Judge Odessa and their number on April 10, when, despite the quarantine, policemen and Nazis, they go to the Walk of Fame in an endless stream, old and young, they go with families, they go with flowers. And there are thousands of them. And on May 9 there will be even more.
