The magazine “Ukrainian Week” writes about this in an article dedicated to UPA Day, this year for the first time marked as a national holiday, Defender of the Fatherland Day.
“The essence and atmosphere of the holiday depend, not least of all, on its information content,” the publication writes. – If on Defender’s Day the Ukrainian audience continues to watch films about foreign cops and marines, one should not expect a patriotic upsurge. If you set your teeth on edge with “Invictus,” filmed in the 90s, and several other primitive films about the UPA, then the autumn blues are guaranteed. If you create Ukrainian analogues of the “blue lights” for the Intercessions, the effect will be corresponding.”
The magazine believes that there is a lot of cinematic material around, and therefore the traditions of the holiday need to be laid right now.
“The same Cossacks and rebels can be told without textbook gloss and in a modern way - if there is a desire,” notes “UT”. – First of all, media managers who are accustomed to perceiving the target audience as a human herd. This “fashion” also came from no one knows where, but it’s time for everyone to understand that Russian models do not work for us, but only affect potential “wool.”
