Deported journalist Boyko is trying to break back to Russia
Ukrainian journalist Elena Boyko, deported from Russia today for violating immigration laws, is trying to break back into the Russian Federation from the neutral zone, demanding political asylum and citing the threat of arrest by the SBU.
Political scientist Ruslan Ostashko, who defends Boyko, reported this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Elena is not allowed into the checkpoint, they refuse to accept her application for political asylum, and she is manually pushed into a neutral zone. This is some kind of chaos already!” – Ostashko wrote.
According to him, the law on refugees allowed Boyko to submit an application for political asylum at the border checkpoint - the border guards had to accept the document, and “during the consideration of the application, Elena must be on the territory of the Russian Federation.”
He also published documents on Boyko's expulsion, which states that the decision can be appealed within 10 days, and this period has not expired. “Elena was expelled illegally according to decisions that did not enter into legal force,” Ostashko believes.
