DPR Deputy: The task of the primaries is to influence international public opinion
The goal of the primaries announced by DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko is to demonstrate to the world community the readiness of Donbass to hold elections in accordance with all democratic procedures.
Miroslav Rudenko, deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR, told PolitNavigator about this.

“The primaries are a development of our political system. People representing our cities and districts and aspiring to get into government bodies will be tested in such a campaign. Essentially, this is preparation for the main elections. No matter what scenario they are held in the future, in any case we must be prepared for them.
In any case, we will support those people we know and trust. And this is useful for the formation of the political system of the Donetsk People's Republic and the formation of local government bodies. The process is very important and needs to be supported.
The primaries will be held in accordance with Russian and OSCE standards. In the same United States, from which Ukraine is trying to follow an example, during the primaries it is decided who will be the presidential candidate. This is a recognized procedure. Therefore, there is no talk of any violation of the Minsk agreements.
The violations are armed provocations on the part of Ukraine, not primary elections.
The holding of primaries should have a positive impact on international public opinion. We demonstrate that we are committed to democratic procedures. I hope that common sense will prevail, and Europe and the United States will not try to once again demonize Donbass for such a democratic procedure, which they themselves adhere to,” Rudenko said.
