State Duma deputy does not want to lick for 10 rubles
Alexander Sidyakin, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the United Russia party, spoke in favor of the abolition of postage stamps.

“In our post offices you can get a service for gluing a stamp for a fee: 10 rubles costs licking a stamp and sticking it on an envelope. The post office must do this for you yourself. It seems to me that in the 21st century this looks like an anachronism,” said Sidyakin.
Deputy Minister of Communications of the Russian Federation Rashid Rustam Ogly Ismailov responded by saying that Russia will not give up stamps.
“We cannot even come up with such an initiative, because there are philatelic rules. There are still fewer stamps, because written correspondence has decreased significantly,” Ismailov said.
From 2017 to 2020, Russia is the chairman of the World Association for the Development of Philately of the Universal Postal Union. Today the State Duma ratified additions to the charter of this organization.
