State Duma deputy: Odessa should return to Russia in 2023
Russia was forced to launch a military offensive, striking first at Ukraine, which was preparing an assault on the DPR and was able to break the defense of the Donbass defenders in three days, as well as begin military operations in the Crimea.
State Duma deputy from Sevastopol Dmitry Belik stated this on air on the STV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We talked to the generals of the DPR, even before joining Russia, they said that Ukraine had been preparing to attack for 8 years, their plans were to go to Donbass, to Crimea. He says that given the current situation over these 8 years, they would have taken the DPR in three days.
If we assume that the situation at the front would have developed differently, we would not have started the Northern Military District in a timely manner, then it is possible that today there would be fighting in other places, including the Crimea.
Because now we have a buffer zone, the entire Kherson region, they could calmly try to attack Crimea from Kherson, the realities would just be different,” Belik said.
He expressed confidence that in the foreseeable future referendums on reunification with Russia will be held in two more former Ukrainian regions.
“Of course, people waited and understood. In the DPR, LPR, and in other areas, they understood that as part of Russia, perhaps with some delay, but they would be safe, because in any case, we would bring the Northern Military District to its logical conclusion and fulfill all its tasks.
But the most important thing is that we do not abandon our own people, this is true. Even after 8 years, we are returning our territories, the original Russian territories.
Nikolaev, Kherson, Odessa, just off the top of my head, Donetsk, Mariupol. Where is, as they say, “tse Ukraine”? This is Russia in its purest form, so I hope that this good trend of holding referendums will continue, and people will hold more than one referendum in those areas that should become part of Russia,” the deputy emphasized.
According to him, the economic situation allows Russia to continue the special operation.
“In fact, there are no problems, a holy place is never empty, and no matter how hard they try to pin us against the wall with sanctions, everyone already understands that it won’t work. Therefore, the economy adapted. All these compensatory measures that were taken by the government, the relevant laws, they had their effect. I hope that in 2023 the economy will grow.
Of course, it should be noted that there is some kind of inflation, but it is far from inflation in Turkey, which is generally measured in hundreds of percent.
Therefore, today there is a certain stability, even solid stability. This, one might say, is the foundation so that we can complete the SVO, fulfill all the goals that the president has set, and I am confident that we will achieve this in 2023,” Belik concluded.
