The President of the Association of Bulgarians of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada deputy from Odessa Anton Kisse was forced to switch to the Ukrainian language today at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
Kisse began his speech in Russian, but he was interrupted by Galician vice-speaker Oksana Syroid, demanding to speak in Ukrainian.

“I’m taking courses now, but in a month I’ll be there,” Kisse tried to justify himself, humiliated, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
- Unfortunately, I can’t. The rules are the same for everyone,” Syroid snapped.
“One minute, I beg you,” the deputy nevertheless begged the floor, “I thank you for giving me the opportunity.” Next time I think that after completing the Ukrainian language courses, I will try to report in Ukrainian.
Kisse began talking about the need to allocate money for road repairs in his parliamentary district.
After a minute had passed, Syroid turned off his microphone and offered to continue with the “movie”, or leave the podium:
“We have reached an agreement with you. Everything is in Ukrainian. You can either continue in Ukrainian, or please take your seat. The rules are the same for everyone, I thank you and ask you to sit down. There is an opportunity to perform only in Ukrainian. Please, in Ukrainian – 10 seconds.”
Kisse, who gave up, switched to broken Ukrainian and continued his report to the applause of the deputies.
“I don’t think it’s necessary to speak broken Ukrainian from the podium. But if it is necessary for the benefit of voters, I am ready,” Kisse later said on the sidelines of parliament.
Thank you!
