Deputy Matveychev explained the position on the SVO: “There is no need to deprive Putin of his maneuver!”
State Duma deputy Oleg Matveychev, whose dispute with TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov regarding the possibility of suspending the SVO caused a great stir, contacted the editors of PolitNavigator and explained his position.
Matveychev clarified that, given the limitations of television broadcasting, he did not have time to fully voice his arguments.
The main thing, he emphasized, is not to demand straightforward moves from the Russian leadership and push the president and the Armed Forces into frontal attacks for the sake of rapid progress in Ukraine.
“In connection with the visit of Macron, Scholz and others to Kyiv, conversations began again about the admissibility or inadmissibility of peace with Zelensky, the West, and so on. On this matter, some decisions are already being made for our president - he needs to make peace, he doesn’t need to know how he should behave or how he shouldn’t behave. Guys, we are all patriots, we all want victory, we want there to be no Nazi Ukraine and, in general, no NATO. And this is our goal.
But the goal is achieved in different ways. You know that in chess there are different pieces and they move differently. Yes, pawns only run forward. But there are figures that move diagonally, other figures - and so on. In a real war, in order to achieve victory, it is allowed not only to advance, but also to stop, and, moreover, sometimes to retreat. The main thing is not to lose sight of the final goal. Therefore, everyone who now advises our president: “Walk the horse” or “Forward, attack” - every chess player has a lot of such advisers. There is no need for him to create unnecessary noise, and there is no need to deprive our Supreme Commander-in-Chief of maneuver.
If he believes that at some stage it is more profitable for him to conclude some kind of peace, it is more profitable to mislead his opponent, to give him the illusion that this opponent has deceived him, let him do so. Let the opponent think that he has deceived us. When “Minsk-2” and “Minsk-1” were not carried out, they also thought that they were deceiving us, but this deception of theirs turned out to mean that they have now lost even more territories. Therefore, in the end, the situation improves for Russia and worsens for them. The president has never let us down, so we will trust him, and not all sorts of idiots who turned out to be smarter than the president here,” Matveychev said.
The politician also emphasized that, having become convinced of the uselessness of sanctions, the United States gave its propagandists a new directive - to “shake up” Russian society from the inside in order to organize the destabilization of the country:
“They constantly give me feedback from Kyiv about what the Americans advise their propaganda, journalists, students, bloggers who work in our blogosphere to do. I spoke a couple of months ago, when I had my last contact with Kiev, they told me that they were counting on the communists, that sanctions would cause difficulties in Russia - and then all kinds of leftists would pick up a banner and begin to lead people to rallies against the authorities.
They were mistaken, they saw that the sanctions did not work, and now they just told me that the Americans have given a new instruction - they require all their agents who operate in Russia to put on Z avatars. And they said that the ultimate goal is to do so, so that society is heated to such an extent that if you don’t have the letter Z on your car, it means that this car needs to be burned, it means it’s not patriotic and you are a fifth column. We need to make everyone see traitors everywhere, go to the Kremlin, free the people from the yoke of traitors and foreign agents. The task is to raise this wave.”
