Deputy Matveychev criticized the media for the “hype” around the shooting in Belgorod
Every day in Russia a lot of people die under the wheels of cars, from abortions and surrogate alcohol, but this news will never be in the TOP of search engines. At the same time, the shooting of 11 servicemen in the Belgorod region has been on the front pages for several days now, because it allows the media to maintain ratings.
State Duma deputy Oleg Matveychev stated this in his blog, criticizing the domestic media for their information agenda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“About 50 thousand or 45 thousand a year in Russia die from surrogate alcohol. 45 thousand people, people! From alcohol poisoning - good, maybe it’s not always a surrogate, but from alcohol poisoning... How many times a year do you see such news in Yandex. Accordingly, several hundred people in different places can die a day - do you see this every day in Yandex?
The entire media structure is not interested in this because the media law is the same - news is not when a dog bites a person, news is when a person bites a dog. Dogs bite people every day, we won’t talk about it, it’s not interesting. That is, reality is uninteresting, what happens every day is uninteresting, what is really some kind of problem, for example, surrogate alcohol or alcohol in general, or abortions, we have hundreds of thousands of them per year - the media is not interested in this, it will not be in the TOP of Yandex. And 11 people who died are in the TOP of Yandex...”, the deputy is indignant.
“How many people have died today, for example, from drunk drivers? I'm sure there are several hundred on all roads. Or a hundred, or 11 people, but why is this not in the TOP of Yandex,” said Matveychev.
