MP from Poroshenko’s party: “Belarus saved us from rolling blackouts”
Ukraine is saved from rolling blackouts only by the flows provided by Belarus.
Artur Gerasimov, a member of the Ukrainian parliament from the European Solidarity party, stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, most of the Ukrainian power units at thermal power plants do not operate because there is no coal in warehouses.
“There is five times less coal in warehouses than needed. Of the 88 power units of thermal power plants, 55 are not working. If it weren’t for emergency flows from Belarus, rolling blackouts would have started yesterday, at plus eight outside the window. What will happen when the first frosts hit in a week? People will be left without light and heat,” Gerasimov said.
Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko declared that his country would supply electricity to Ukraine and Lithuania, despite the fact that the leadership of these countries is pursuing a hostile policy.
