Jan Tomaszewski told a popular publication that he “doesn’t want to die for Ukraine and Poroshenko.”
According to Tomashevsky, President Poroshenko has lost not only control over Ukraine, but also over himself. “He started the civil war in Ukraine, and now he wants the whole world to pull hot chestnuts out of the fire,” Tomashevsky said.
The former goalkeeper commented on Poroshenko’s call for a boycott of the World Cup in Russia, which will take place in 2018: “I want there to be democracy in Ukraine, but I don’t want to die for Ukraine and Poroshenko. Now I hear that Poroshenko wants to trample the FIFA and IOC flag with his dirty boots, and it seems to me that this person should turn to a specialist. Ukrainian athletes won medals in Sochi despite civil war at home. And well done! I advise Poroshenko not to mix sport with politics,” he said.
