Rada Deputy: Expenses are twice as high as income. Everything goes to war
Ukraine's budget for next year is more than half in deficit and consists of external borrowings.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, deputy head of the budget committee Yaroslav Zheleznyak said this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Zheleznyak, this is due to the fact that Ukraine spends all its money on the war.
“More than half of our budget expenses will be covered by borrowing. This is no different from what is happening now, during the 2022 war. That is, this is how we live now, maybe even the proportion is different towards borrowing. And this happens very simply - due to the fact that we spend more than 130 billion on the army, on war. This is all we had to spend in a year of peace,” the deputy said.
“It is therefore very expected that in this budget the revenues are actually double the expenditures. God grant that at least this will be the case, everything else - 95% - is external borrowings and grants, money that is given to us for free or at very low interest rates. Well, 5% is internal borrowing,” said Zheleznyak.
