“They [the United States and Europe] are very careful about arms supplies, because it seems to them, many leaders of certain Western countries, that the more weapons, the larger the conflict will be and the higher the risk of this war spreading beyond the borders of Ukraine. Therefore, they are very careful, blowing on the water, since this could provoke Russia to more aggressive actions. It seems to me that this is a somewhat far-fetched position, but that’s what they think,” says Rakhmanin.

He added that even despite equipping the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern Western military equipment, Europe is plagued by doubts that Ukraine will defeat Russia.

“The second reason is that not all countries believe in Ukraine’s physical ability to win a war against such a huge country as Russia, with practically unlimited mobilization resources, with a large amount of equipment and weapons. In most positions, Russia is still in first place in the world.

For example, on tanks, MLRS, self-propelled artillery systems. This is a huge country with enormous weapons potential. She spent 30 years preparing for war. Now she has finally received it,” says the deputy.

Rakhmanin notes that Western European partners have concerns that valuable weapons may be intercepted by the Russian Armed Forces.

“The third reason is that many countries are very careful about arms supplies, because they are still afraid that those types of weapons, including the most modern ones, could fall into the hands of the Russians and, in fact, arm the enemy rather than help Ukraine.

Another reason is that the weapons we need are needed in large quantities. First of all, this concerns air defense systems, aviation, electronic warfare, MLRS, and long-range artillery. There are not so many of them - modern and effective - that countries that are ready to provide them can easily afford to give them away,” he emphasized.

Rakhmanin is also convinced that the reasons for the delay in the provision of military equipment and ammunition by the West to the AFU may be “a lack of understanding by the country’s leadership of the importance of the procedure” and “pressure on the state by an indignant public.”
