Rada deputy: residents of Donbass can no longer be considered citizens of Ukraine
Kyiv should not implement the Minsk agreements and hold elections in Donbass, because with the receipt of Russian Federation passports, residents of the region ceased to be Ukrainian citizens.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Irina Gerashchenko stated this during the security forum in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Minsk agreements as a framework position today require reassessment. After all, the situation has seriously changed. And, unfortunately, the government’s communication position has completely failed.
Over these years, Putin carried out passportization of the occupied Donbass. And any elections there now are elections of citizens of the Russian Federation, who were either forced or under the influence of occupation television channels to take these passports,” she argues.
“And it seems to me that we have not heard from the Ukrainian team at all events about the threats of passportization, which, in fact, makes it impossible to hold elections there,” Gerashchenko said.
