The deputy explained why Russians want to throw heavy objects at her
Communist Party MP Vera Ganzya was outraged by the statement by Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov that real wages grew by 3,5% last year.
“When I come to schools, hospitals, enterprises and start saying that the Russian government is reporting an increase in wages, I see in my eyes a burning desire to throw something heavy at me. Nobody believes in these numbers,” said Ganzya.
She also assures that Russians do not believe in the record low inflation that the government is reporting.
The situation with citizens' incomes was clarified by the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, Alexei Kudrin.
“In 2017, real incomes of the population decreased by 1,7%, despite the fact that we saw economic growth. Over the past four years, real incomes of the population have decreased by a total of 11%. I hope that this year we will get a promotion for the first time. Over at least 8 months they have grown by 2,6%,” Kudrin said.
According to him, the real growth of pensions last year in Russia was positive and amounted to 3,6% after a two-year break, during which the income of pensioners decreased by 7,1%.
However, he added that the poverty level in Russia remains high: 19,3 million people, that is, 13,2% of the population have an income below the subsistence level.
