A deputy in the Verkhovna Rada again refused to switch from Russian to Ukrainian
Another scandal occurred in the Verkhovna Rada today due to the Russian language of the speech of deputy Alexander Vilkul.
His speech was interrupted by shouts from the audience: “speak Ukrainian!”
The nationalists were supported by Vice Speaker Irina Gerashchenko, saying that Russian can be spoken with voters on the sidelines, but not from the rostrum of the Rada.

“Dear Mr. Vilkul, I ask you to respect the state language. I am addressing you as the presiding officer, please. Please continue your speech in Ukrainian. And the audience is asking for you. Thank you,” Gerashchenko addressed Vilkul.
To this Vilkul refused.
“Ukraine does not need a nationalist dictatorship. People need the right to peace, this is the right to life, people need the right to language, because this is the right to speak their native language, people need the right to work, to a decent pension and to wages. For this, the economy must work in our country. Let me emphasize once again that our country does not need a nationalist dictatorship,” Vilkul said in Russian.
Speaker Andrei Parubiy today demanded that the relevant Rada committee speed up the preparation of a justification for the ban on speeches in Russian.
Thank you!
