“In 1920, Russia received a loan of $50 million from the US government. They pledged Crimea as a territory that was to be transferred to the United States if this loan was not repaid or interest was paid. Take an interest, this is a very interesting thing.
In 1954, the loan became due. And there was a project called New California - this is the territory of Crimea. I am sure that this is precisely why Crimea was transferred to Ukraine in order to retain the territory for the USSR.
It was transferred in order not to pay the debts that the USSR had. At that time, Stalin no longer needed Lend-Lease. And in 1943, at a meeting between Roosevelt and Stalin, there was a conversation about the return and payment of interest on the use of the loan.
This is an unresolved issue. This is a case that can de jure, in fact, confirm that this territory belongs not to the Russian Federation, but to the United States,” said the Ukrainian deputy.
