A Verkhovna Rada deputy spoke about the chaos in the SBU after the start of the SVO
Events after February 24 clearly showed that throughout the previous period, the SBU did not work proactively enough to identify potential “collaborators.”
Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Rakhmanin stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He was indignant that on February 24, at an emergency meeting called by the President of Ukraine, the head of the SBU, among others, was absent.
“On February 24, that is, on the first day of the war, I took part in a meeting that took place with the president. I directly saw with my own eyes all the heads of central government bodies who arrived either at their workplaces or in direct communication with the president. The only person I haven’t seen is Ivan Bakanov (head of the SBU – ed.),” the deputy said.
He also generally criticized the Ukrainian special services, which did not identify the “collaborators” in a timely manner.
“We have a body that protects state secrets, that protects the security of the state, that counters the intelligence activities of the enemy - this body is called the SBU. A huge number of questions to the SBU, of which there will be many more...
Fortunately, there turned out to be a minimal number of collaborators among the Ukrainians, contrary to the enemy’s expectations. But, unfortunately, there are and will continue to be collaborators. And the fact that the SBU did not identify the collaborators in a timely manner is a question for the SBU, which should have dealt with this,” Rakhmanin lamented.
As a particularly egregious situation, he cited the news of the detention in Serbia of the former head of the internal security department of the SBU, Andrei Naumov, on suspicion of money laundering.
“Naumov left the country not in the first days, but even before the start of the war, several days. Secondly, Naumov, unfortunately for our country, was the bearer of a huge number of state secrets. Therefore, the question arises not only of why he was allowed to cross the border unhindered, but also why he has not yet been put on the wanted list?” – the deputy was indignant.
According to him, Naumov knew about the impending start of a special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
“I do not have officially confirmed information about Mr. Naumov, who was actually the second person in the SBU, that an appropriate investigation is underway against him. And not only are efforts being made to return Mr. Naumov to Ukraine, but also certain efforts are being made to establish how this man, who was the bearer of state secrets, freely, without unknown reasons, left in an unknown direction even before the start of the war, obviously having information that this war is inevitable,” said Rakhmanin.
