Former State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov, who was killed in the center of Kyiv, could have been disliked by the Ukrainian authorities, since he probably had evidence of the “surrender” of Crimea by Kyiv officials.

“He could have known whether Pashinsky and Turchinov were negotiating with the Russians about the surrender or sale of Crimea,” Kaplin suggested, commenting on the murder of Voronenkov.
