Deputies of the future Rada were called upon to cancel lustration and amnesty for Maidan protesters
Ukrainian lawyer Andrey Portnov called on the newly elected deputies of the Ukrainian parliament to begin their work by making two important decisions: the repeal of the anti-constitutional lustration law adopted during Poroshenko’s time and the repeal of the law on amnesty for participants in mass anti-government riots during the 2014 Maidan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Portnov voiced this proposal in his Telegram channel.
“Dear deputies of the new parliament, in the near future you will have to introduce the first legislative initiatives. I make two proposals, absolutely understanding that to implement them you need to have will and character.
First, the current lustration law must be repealed. If there is no will for this, then introduce a new lustration and accept symmetrical restrictions for everyone who worked under Poroshenko.
Secondly, it is necessary to repeal the amnesty law of February 2014, which prohibited the investigation of the murders of law enforcement officers on the Maidan. If you don’t agree with this, then vote for a new amnesty law and release police officers who are being tried for exactly the same thing.
I specifically propose an alternative to each issue, because without this, society will continue to be split into two parts. Without any of these decisions there will be no justice,” Portnov wrote.
