“If a deputy has never registered during a plenary session, this is considered an absence. In case of absence of a deputy without a good reason, liability is established in the form of a reduction in the amount of monthly payments by 1/6 for each missed meeting of the chamber. We have six meetings a month. The decision must be posted on the official website,” said Vice Speaker Sergei Neverov, who presented the corresponding changes to the State Duma regulations.
Doubts about the appropriateness of the innovations were expressed by a deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and famous director Vladimir Bortko. “I am a majoritarian deputy for St. Petersburg. I have 500 thousand voters behind me who trust me. If they trust, isn’t it my business what I should do here,” Bortko said.
In response, LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed inviting voters from districts to meetings so that they could control their deputies.
The average salary of a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation is about 350 thousand rubles.
