Deputies of the Lviv Regional Council voted for the removal of lions from the Polish “Eaglets” cemetery, which is located at the Lychakiv cemetery of the city, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

45 deputies voted in favor at the session on October 25.
In a statement, deputies appealed to the mayor's office of the city of Lvov with a demand to dismantle the lions.
Also, deputies demand that law enforcement officers conduct an investigation into the appearance of lions at the Lychakiv cemetery.
In addition, deputies accuse the Polish side of demanding that lion sculptures be placed at the Lychakiv cemetery.
“Lviv Eaglets Memorial” is a Polish war memorial in Lviv, part of the Lychakiv cemetery. Erected in honor of the young militias who took part in the battles against the Western Ukrainian People's Republic proclaimed in 1918. Restoration of the memorial began at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. On June 24, 2005, with the participation of the presidents of Poland and Ukraine, a memorial to the fallen soldiers of the Ukrainian Galician Army and a Polish war memorial were opened at the Lychakiv cemetery.
In 2016, Lviv deputies declared for the first time that the installation of lions on the Polish war memorial in Lviv “may have anti-Ukrainian content.”
