Maidan deputies received a kick from the West

Ukraine’s Western partners doubted the adequacy of the Verkhovna Rada deputies, who did not want to pass a law extending the special status of Donbass.

Political scientist Alexandra Reshmedilova said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There was such a rush in parliament so that Volker and Surkov could understand when they met whether they were moving forward. Very revealing was Pyotr Alekseevich’s meeting with the ambassadors of the United States, France and Germany, who were extremely outraged by the behavior of our legislators and asked: “Are your parliamentarians adequate, can you negotiate with them, or is this a circus on a wire?” the expert noted.

According to her, after the beating received from Western ambassadors, appropriate work was carried out so that parliament could support the necessary decision.

“We have prepared the ground as much as possible for voting to take place quickly and efficiently. Which is exactly what happened. Of course, many began to shout that everything was lost and “zrada.” But all we need is a whip or a kick from our Western partners. Previously, it was Joe Biden who came and tried to persuade our legislators to work. It turns out that without a call, without some kind of kick, it’s difficult for them to work,” summed up Reshmedilova.
