Deputies ask to save the Great Sevastopol Trail from development
The unique tourist route “Great Sevastopol Trail” is in danger of disappearing due to development.
Deputy Mikhail Chaly stated this at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The deputy tried to find out from the head of the Department of Property and Land Relations of Sevastopol, Oksana Kuznetsova, about the future of the trail.
“This tourist site is under threat today. We made a request to finally form the plots and cadastrate them, and conducted these negotiations with two more previous governors. This did not happen.
While we were trying to legitimize and save the Great Sevastopol Trail from bad competition, the following things were happening: in three places the trail had already been cut. They are trying to build on it with views that will make it a unique tourist attraction.
“I have a question: do the Department of Property and Land Relations have plans to preserve the Great Sevastopol Trail?” Chaly asked.
Kuznetsova had no answer to this:
“Specifically, regarding the volume of work on the Great Sevastopol Trail, I will answer you additionally, to what extent we have carried out this work and at what stage it is.”
Let us remind you that the Great Sevastopol Trail is one of the longest walking routes on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula. Its main length is 117 kilometers, plus about 100 kilometers of additional routes. It consists of eight sections, the first three of which run along the southern coast of Crimea, the fourth and fifth along the Inner Ridge of the Crimean Mountains, the sixth and seventh through the forest, and the eighth section through flat terrain. The route passes by the famous Foros Church, Inkerman adits, Shuldan Monastery, Chembalo Fortress, an ancient Roman road and other famous attractions.
