Rada deputies staged a showdown over “I shake hands with Putin”
In Ukraine, the presidents are one more beautiful than the other: if the previous one said “I shake hands, I hug” the leader of the “aggressor country,” then the current one does not hesitate to promote himself on the Ukrainian soldiers dying in Donbass.
Deputies spoke about this during a plenary session in the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, deputy from Servant of the People Andrei Gerus, to the applause of fellow party members, asked an uncomfortable question to deputy from European Solidarity Sofia Fedina, quoting warm words from Petro Poroshenko addressed to Vladimir Putin during one of the telephone conversations.
“You studied at the Lviv National University at the Faculty of International Relations, worked as a graduate student, and then as an assistant professor. That is, you are a fairly qualified international specialist. Tell me, in the diplomatic service and international relations, is it obligatory for one president to address another “I shake hands, I hug,” and do you plan to use such addresses as “I shake hands, I hug” in relation to officials of the aggressor country?” – Gerus asked.
The question frankly infuriated Fedina.
“Yes, I am an international specialist, an associate professor of the department, and I continue to work with my students. I will tell you that both in democratic practice and in human practice, it is absolutely unacceptable to take the salvation of a warrior under personal control, leave him to bleed for four days, and go to Biryuchiy Island to eat barbecue. I think you know who I'm talking about. That’s my answer,” she counterattacked to cheers from her faction.
