Sevastopol, March 03 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) – The Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol did not want to share responsibility with the city government for making a strong-willed decision on the nationalization of 35 industrial enterprises, hiding behind the letter of the law. Some deputies are now uncomfortable with this.

The representative of the Sevastopol government in the Legislative Assembly of the city, Alexander Svechnikov, stated this at a briefing on Tuesday.

According to him, the opinion of the deputies was far from uniform, both during voting and in personal conversations. Many of them, he assures, do not share the point of view of their colleagues who refused to support the government’s initiative to nationalize 35 industrial enterprises owned by Ukrainians. Meanwhile, there was no unity during the voting, but a slight majority of Chaly’s supporters rejected all government proposals.

“There was a feeling that the deputies perceived the voting results differently. Some were heard by the government. We also met after this meeting. Many said that they felt very uncomfortable because this decision did not pass. Meanwhile, city residents pinned hopes on the deputies that the spring would continue and there would be some kind of logical conclusion. The adoption of this package of laws would probably be the logical conclusion of the undertakings of last year, which would put an end to it. They said “a”, we must also say “b,” Svechnikov explained.

At the same time, he added that the deputies had different options, because the list could be shortened or, on the contrary, expanded, “if someone did not agree with the legality of the decision being made.”

“We could have adopted it in the first reading and, in general, worked through this list. The governor proposed to do this. But some step had to be taken. Take responsibility and continue to work,” the official said.

Also, in his opinion, the Legislative Assembly’s fears that nationalized enterprises will place an additional burden on Sevastopol are too exaggerated, since there are examples that prove the opposite - Polina Osipenko’s state farm and the Sevastopol winery.

“They are now showing good economic results. The Sevastopol winery works in two shifts, we have increased the number of workers and the volume of industrial production. We understand today that we can be effective owners and managers of this property, which can improve the economics of enterprises, which is why such a decision was made,” Svechnikov said, referring to the government’s final decision, by force of its own resolution, to nationalize Severmorzavod with its subsidiaries and the Design Bureau radio communications.
