Kyiv, January 20 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – For the majority of members of the Verkhovna Rada, the abolition of parliamentary immunity does not threaten anything; only deputies from the provinces or representatives of the previous government can suffer from it.

In his opinion, it is not so easy to open criminal cases against significant figures in parliament.

“I’ll give you a simple example. It is no secret that in the prime minister’s circle there are people who play with budget money, including, apparently on suspicion, for the sake of replenishing the party’s coffers. Such suspicions sound. Now imagine, will the relevant department be able to open, or will it want to open, a criminal case? Purely theoretically. I have no claims or accusations, purely theoretically, against Mr. Ivanchuk? No, I can immediately say no for one simple reason. Because this immediately creates a wedge in the alliance between the president and the prime minister. The union is already not very solid.

Therefore, they will not open criminal cases against each other. As for such oppositionists, for example, within the Poroshenko bloc, like Leshchenko, Nayem or Zalischuk, I will not believe in my life that criminal cases will be opened against them. Because it will result in big negatives for the image.

Therefore, potential defendants in criminal cases may be people associated with the past political regime, and possibly some of the provincial deputies. Those who seriously get burned over something will spend some money badly somewhere, or will obviously use their deputy position to play, for example, with budget money. Then yes, these people can get burned,” says Vladimir Fesenko.
