Deripaska provided Trump's biggest success
The reassignment of Russia's aluminum industry to the United States is the biggest economic success of President Donald Trump's economic policy.
Vice President and Press Secretary of the Rosneft company Mikhail Leontyev stated this today on the Vesti FM radio station, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The only fantastic success of Trumpism in economic pressure and blackmail is the Americanization of Rusal. This is a fantastic precedent. Here in Russia, a world-class company was taken over almost at our expense. I take my hat off to Mnuchin (US Secretary of the Treasury - Ed). Only democrats, crazy from the fight against Trump, could not notice this success,” Leontyev said.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska bought the enterprise's exemption from American sanctions for a stake in aluminum enterprises. Eventually The Russian share in the strategic industry has decreased from approximately 70 to 44,95% without the right to increase it. In addition, of the 12 members of the board of directors of Rusal, 8 are now foreigners.
Mikhail Leontyev believes that the situation with Rusal is a bad precedent.
“In Russia there is such a thing called the stock market. The share of foreign players on it is close to 100%. Under current circumstances, this is a zone of unlimited risk. Even without deliberate action against it, it depends on every breath of wind. This is a colossal destabilizer of the economy. In the current conditions, this is a matter of national security,” the expert said.
