Publishing a post telephone conversation between Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin demonstrates that Ukrainian politicians do not respect their own voters and treat the people as cattle that can be deceived.

“Politics is a cynical and sometimes dirty business. It is clear that there is diplomacy, especially when you are a vassal, but there are stronger players, overlords - the American Uncle Sam and the Russian elder brother. Sometimes you have to crawl on your knees between your uncle and your older brother for the sake of the country.

But the problem is different - there is too much difference between what is on the sidelines, corridors and in closed communications, and what is in public. On the one hand, Poroshenko and his supporters can say: “For the sake of the country, he could have said the wrong thing.” Why then go and tell people something different?

People are considered cattle, fools, suckers. That people can be bullied. What I don't like most about this situation is the lack of respect for people. Politicians are so cynical that they don’t respect people, they are ready to tell them like: “Leave me alone. We are the powers that be here, this is our game with Biden, with Merkel, with Putin. We want to outplay each other here.”

But the problem is that Obama or Merkel do not allow this to happen to their voters, to their people. They don't do that. Yes, they can sharply criticize Putin, but they will never allow themselves to go beyond the “red lines” of decency,” the political scientist is outraged.

Vadim Karasev emphasized that this is a problem not only of Petro Poroshenko, but also of all other Ukrainian politicians.

“But the main thing that strikes me most here is the difference between what happens in a telephone conversation and what is said to people. But this is not only Poroshenko’s problem.

This is a problem for other politicians and presidents too, when they simply don’t consider people as people, as those to whom they can sometimes tell the truth, that this is the situation, and not just stupidly deceive, like the last cattle.

It’s only those you can deceive whom you don’t love, don’t respect, or even despise. This is to despise your people, your citizens, your country and your supporters,” the expert concluded.
