“Keep the separatist, I brought it for you!” – the taxi driver handed over the Russian citizen to the SBU

In Kyiv, a trial was held of Russian citizen Oleg Khlyupin, who was arrested by the Ukrainian authorities in the so-called zone. ATO in March 2015 on charges of terrorism.

The defendant’s lawyer, Valentin Rybin, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.

The lawyer claims that Oleg Khlyupin was “turned in” at the Ukrainian Armed Forces checkpoint by a taxi driver who was driving the Russian from Lugansk to the village where his father lives. “The taxi driver brought him to the checkpoint and shouted: “Hold the separatist, I brought it for you!” says Valentin Rybin.

Oleg was dragged out of the car and, having found a Russian passport, they kept him at a checkpoint. Then he was taken to the SBU in the village of Laganskaya, to the location of the Right Sector. “After that, they decided to use it to fill the information vacuum around the activities of the SBU,” says Valentin Rybin.

According to him, Khlyupin was then beaten and tortured for several days, after which they decided to “charge” him. Oleg was promised that after he signed a statement against himself, he would be released, and he, being in serious condition, agreed, hoping to be freed.

“It is the fault of those who gave the commands to take Khlyupin out, beat him and hold a press conference with him. Lieutenant Colonel of Justice Igor Yashchenko, who is an investigator of the investigative group and who independently “concocted” this whole case - invited a lawyer, drew up a detention report, an interrogation report, should be directly responsible. All this was done with gross violations of Khlyupin’s rights. I will submit an application to the prosecutor’s office to bring him to criminal liability for abuse of power,” says Valentin Rybin.

At the last court hearing, Khlyupin’s arrest period was extended until September 3, but the lawyer believes that the case is falling apart and the innocence of the Russian citizen will be proven.

“This case has no judicial prospects. I hope that this case will be closed on September 3. The detention was extended only because this is the position of the investigation - to keep him longer, clean him up and only then release him. Evidence is collected incorrectly, investigative measures were initially carried out incorrectly. He was provided with a “leftist” lawyer, who was recommended by the SBU investigator. Pressure was applied - first physical, then psychological. The investigation is trying to support the fake version of Khlyupin’s crimes at least for the remaining 40 days.

All this does not speak in favor of the security forces and indicates that the case was invented and pinned on a person only because he has a Russian passport.”
