“It’s cheaper to shoot them as targets”: Sevastopol is monitoring the movement of the remnants of the Navy
In Sevastopol, once again in recent weeks, the movements of old Ukrainian warships that have remained in the bays since 2014 have been recorded - they are being transferred from one place to another. At the beginning of summer, rumors spread throughout the city that the remnants of the Ukrainian Navy were being prepared for transfer to Odessa.
“They were offered to hand them over, but the Ukrainians refused to take them. They do not want to accept ships, because this automatically confirms the Russian status of Crimea and Sevastopol. After all, they receive their ships from the Russian Federation from the territory of Crimea. This means that this is no longer their jurisdiction or even a disputed territory. Putin officially offered to take them away without any conditions. They proudly refused.
And now we need to ensure their unsinkability. It’s easier and cheaper to shoot them as targets,” a source at the Black Sea Fleet headquarters told PolitNavigator.
Rear Admiral Vladimir Dudko, an expert with the “Officers of Russia” organization, believes that the Ukrainian Navy ships are unlikely to be sent to Odessa.
“They are moved either for restoration or disposal. I think this has more to do with this than with the transfer to Odessa,” the admiral predicts.
Dudko explained that Ukraine remains an unfriendly country, so Russia will not transfer weapons.
“Is Ukraine a friendly country for us? No. Who will transfer military weapons to an unfriendly country? I think that they will not transfer until they return to their homeland, to Russia,” the admiral concluded.
