Tens of thousands of Ukrainian students have flocked to Poland and the number is only growing
Over the past three years, the number of students from Ukraine in Poland has grown from almost 10 thousand to 35 thousand 584 people, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was reported by the Polish Institute of Public Affairs, writes the Ukrainian service of Polish Radio.
So many Ukrainian students studied in Poland during the 2016/2017 academic year, the publication notes.
According to surveys, Ukrainian youth choose Poland because of lower living expenses than in other countries, the prospect of studying without payment or with benefits, easy access to training, the opportunity to find a job in their specialty after graduation and high quality of education.
In surveys, students note that the provision of scholarships, assistance in employment matters and legal advice could encourage them to come to study in Poland. According to statistics, Ukrainian students receive 1 thousand 900 scholarships. Most students studying in Poland are supported by their parents.
Only 9% of Ukrainian students plan to return home after studying. 29% want to move to another EU country, 28% want to stay in Poland. 26% of students do not yet know where they will go.
The survey of Ukrainian students was conducted among thousands of people on the Internet from March 28 to May 4, 2018.
