Children of Donbass ask for peace and want to go home (PHOTO)
Donetsk, September 22 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – On September 21, the entire world community celebrates the International Day of Peace, which was established in 2002 at the 55th session of the UN General Assembly. And “peace” is precisely the state that Donetsk, and all the residents of Donbass, yearn for.

As a rule, civilians and, above all, children suffered from military operations and barbaric shelling of cities. Many young residents of Donbass today find themselves far from their home, and today they live with their mothers and grandmothers in hostels in Donetsk.
It was for them that parliamentary deputies Alexander Kolesnik, Oksana Bevtsyk, Rustam Abdulaev and Rinat Bilyalov organized a wonderful holiday on Peace Day. All children are refugees from the most war-affected areas of Donbass. Their age ranges from 2 months to 16 years, and they are happy with literally every sign of attention.
The holiday turned out to be very fun: with multi-colored balloons, drawing on the asphalt, and the obligatory treat - everything aroused children's delight. Very intently, the children drew on the asphalt with colored crayons, and it is not difficult to guess what the children were drawing.
“Peace is when nothing is booming around, and birds are flying in the sky instead of airplanes. And the sun is shining and everyone is smiling. This is when there is no war. I want there to be peace and no one on earth to fight,” said 11-year-old Nastya.
10-year-old Lisa drew the sun and flowers: “Peace is when there is sun and flowers. I know what is it. And war is when they bomb and shoot. I also know and saw this,” says the child.
“Today we have three holidays at once - Peace Day, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the anniversary of the Battle of Kulikovo. We gathered the children and invited them to draw pictures on the asphalt, how they see this world. They all painted a blue sky, a house, flowers, the sun, a rainbow. I want to sincerely wish all the children of the earth a peaceful sky above their heads,” said member of the Novorossiya parliament Alexander Kolesnik.
“More than a hundred children from Shakhtersk, Avdeevka, Yenakievo, Kramatorsk and many other hot spots live in these dormitories today. I have tears in my eyes because of the way the children portrayed this world. I would also like to wish all the kids blue skies and clear, warm sun,” added MP Oksana Bevtsyk.
“Unfortunately, the most fragile victims of the war that Ukraine unleashed against the residents of Donbass were children. And we, adults, must do everything to ensure that this sad and gloomy period in the lives of children and adults ends as soon as possible,” stressed MP Irina Popova.
“I am for peace!”, “I want peace”, “No to war!”, “To the sunny world - yes, yes, yes”, “Mom” and simply “PEACE” - these were the captions the children wrote on their drawings on the asphalt. All children want peace...
