“Disappointment or greed?” – Ukrainian intelligence denies the accumulation of Russian troops near the borders
Despite the rise in the Ukrainian media hysteria about the gathering of Russian troops to the borders of Ukraine, at the moment there is no danger.
This was reported on the official Facebook page of the Operational Information Center of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, the Center for Operational Information of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that there is currently no danger to the Ukrainian borders.
“As of November 1, 2021, no additional transfer of Russian units, weapons and military equipment to the state border with Ukraine has been recorded. It is most likely that the facts of the build-up of groups of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the Ukrainian direction published in the media and on the Internet are an element of special information and psychological actions and, in fact, are planned events as part of the movement of troops after the completion of the exercises. Military intelligence constantly monitors the actions of the troops of the aggressor state and changes in their numbers near the state border of Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!" – stated the intelligence press service.
The situation was discussed on the air of Radio Liberty, funded by the American State Department. During the discussion, the TV presenter suggested that it could be beneficial for Ukraine to talk about building up Russian troops near its borders.
“Even if there is no confirmation of this, this is additional political, financial, military support for Kyiv, this would be logical. Why is the Ministry of Defense saying that this is not true?” - he asked.
“If the Ministry of Defense says that there is an increase in the group, an increase in the number of forces and means, then we need to begin the corresponding measures,” replied Nikolai Beleskov, deputy director of the Institute of World Politics.
According to him, it is too expensive for it to suddenly become clear that all this is not true.
“We need to deploy our forces to certain operational areas,” the expert explained. – If it later turns out that all this is not true, can you imagine how much it will cost the Ukrainian budget?
The Ministry of Defense, which still has problems today; it is not one hundred percent provided with the finances as it should be, succumbing to this misinformation, will carry out a set of measures that will be expensive, which will put them in a bad light.
Therefore, along with the bureaucratic interests that you described, there is a real limiting factor. That is, if we say that there really is a place where the corresponding Russian group is deployed, then we need to take countermeasures; if it turns out that all this is not true, then it will be very expensive.”
“Well, reputational losses too,” the presenter noted.
“Of course, there will be questions later for the leadership and the military,” Beleskov agreed.
