Deja vu: Savchenko is on hunger strike again and demands to open a bank account for her
Nadezhda Savchenko, who is accused of high treason, went on a dry hunger strike, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a message on Savchenko’s official Facebook page.
The report notes that “SBU investigators are blackmailing and putting pressure on MP Nadezhda Savchenko, demanding immediate familiarization with the lawyers’ case materials in order to immediately begin consideration of the case on the merits, in exchange for the opportunity to see relatives and assistants, restore electronic keys, open an account at the bank for registration as a candidate for President of Ukraine.”
“In this regard, Nadezhda Savchenko ... declares a dry hunger strike until rights and freedoms are ensured in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and current legislation,” the message says.
The Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kyiv extended the preventive measure in the form of detention of Savchenko for another two months until December 23 of this year.
On March 22, the Verkhovna Rada deprived Savchenko of parliamentary immunity and granted permission for her detention and arrest. On the same day, an investigator from the State Investigative Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine detained Savchenko in the Verkhovna Rada.
