“Wild construction”: in the transit contract with Russia, “European rules” were not even included overnight – expert
The Ukrainian side has repeatedly stated that signing a transit contract with Gazprom is possible only in accordance with European rules. Gazprom
Despite this, the contract is still signed with NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, and not with the GTS operator, and this directly contradicts the declared “European rules”.
Co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund Dmitry Marunich stated this in a conversation on channel 112 Ukraine, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a key point that has not been determined to date. At this meeting on the 20th-21st, almost everything was decided, except how much transit should cost.
Moreover, in the Ukrainian version this is a certain rate, in the Russian version it is a certain single price.
It turned out to be a bit of a wild story, especially wild for our reformers - they reformed, reformed, but did not reform.
Despite the empty chatter about European rules, that “Gazprom and I will sign the most transparent European contract of some kind,” the contract will still be signed with Naftogaz, which, by definition, should not have been there in this chain.
And it will be signed according to no European rules. Perhaps there will even be a single price, which the Russian side is talking about. This is the first act.
Neftegaz is an intermediary, which is not necessary in this situation. A contract according to European rules is a contract with the GTS operator. This is what it is like for Europeans - just a wild design.
I don’t yet know how they will look at it in Europe,” the expert concluded.
