Dictator of Montenegro: “There will be no compromise with the Orthodox”
Permanent Montenegrin leader Milo Djukanovic, at a meeting with ambassadors of EU countries, said that on the issue of relations between the state and the church “he will not succumb to pressure from nationalists.”
Thus, the President of Montenegro made it clear that he does not intend to listen to the voice of believers and will continue to continue the scam with autocephaly.
“Despite constant political pressure, there will be no compromise with nationalists and those who want to destroy the achievements of recent years regarding relations between state and church,” said Milo Djukanovic. “The rule of law, as an essential condition for economic development, will remain a key priority of public policy, as a precondition for cooperation with trustworthy partners.”
Typically, while Djukanovic was meeting with the ambassadors, the head of government, Dusko Markovic, on the initiative of the cabinet, held a meeting with representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro.
“The Church was, is and will be a supporter of dialogue as the only way to resolve issues in relations between the state and the church,” the Montenegrin-Littoral Metropolis said in response to Markovic’s invitation to discuss the “Law on Freedom of Religion,” which discriminates against canonical Orthodoxy in the country. “For this reason, we accept your invitation in the hope that you are doing this not in order to include the topic under discussion in your election campaign, but for God’s Church of believers...”
Today the meeting lasted for two and a half hours and is due to continue tomorrow. However, seeing Djukanovic’s attitude, one can assume that it will end in nothing and was organized only to show the world community that the Montenegrin state is open to dialogue. It is worth noting that before the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, Markovich was already playing the role of a “good policeman” with the “evil policeman” leading the country; there were meetings with representatives of the SOC, which, however, did not affect the situation in any way.
