According to the electronic publication, Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska managed to agree with the President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic on the construction of a premium hotel complex in seaside Budva.

But an obstacle to the implementation of this plan is the mayor of the city, Marko “Bato” Tsarevich, who did not have a good relationship with the rich Russian, and who does not want to let him into the territory of the municipality he heads.

Therefore, now the Montenegrin president, who has ruled the country since 1991, is making every effort to expel “Bato” and bring the municipal government of the resort city under his personal control.

“What this deal means for Djukanovic, in addition to the fact that its successful implementation will be a significant addition to his personal earnings, is indicated by the fact that he wants to present it as his personal achievement in attracting large investments to the Montenegrin coast at a time when Tourism and the country's economy are facing serious consequences from the coronavirus pandemic,” the publication adds.

At the same time, in addition to multimillion-dollar investments, according to in4s.net, Djukanovic wants to achieve more serious goals: to try to “bridge the gap between him and the official Kremlin, resulting from the treasonous policy of the Montenegrin dictator.”

Let us recall that recently, during a video lecture at MGIMO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sharply criticized the policies of the current leadership of Montenegro.

“Unfortunately, the current leader, who has been leading this country for more than 20 years, Milo Djukanovic, has taken an openly Russophobic position, contrary to common sense, contrary to everything that he previously stood for when speaking about relations with the Russian Federation,” the head said Russian Foreign Ministry. – He had problems with justice in the West; in a number of European countries he was charged with smuggling, in my opinion, with some other sins. I do not rule out that this is the reason for the sharp change in his policy.”

In 2005, Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska bought the Podgorica Aluminum Refinery (CAR) in Montenegro, but due to the crisis that happened in 2008 and the inept management of the enterprise, it very soon found itself on the verge of bankruptcy, and the leadership of Montenegro simply “snatched” it from the Russian, introducing external control.

The oligarch sued official Podgorica in international arbitration, but lost. How, after this, the parties intend not only to cooperate, but also to trust each other, time will tell.
