Diplomat Bessmertny scares Ukrainians with Russian “art with a nuclear component”
Russia has artillery shells with a nuclear component, some of which are likely waiting in the wings in warehouses in Belarus.
The former ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus, ex-member of the negotiating group in Minsk, Roman Bessmertny, stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Five years ago, the Kremlin once heard the news that they might somehow use limited nuclear weapons or weapons with elements of nuclear contamination. Because even conventional artillery ammunition with a nuclear component was produced within the borders of the Soviet Union. No one knows where and in what condition these munitions are now, but from the point of view of the available information, everyone says that it exists, including on the territory of the Republic of Belarus,” he asserted.
“We come up with the question, how common are these elements, what category should they be classified into? Because if we look at all the agreements today, we will not find this component anywhere. This is not in any agreement. If you look at it formally and legally, in recent years after the signing of the SALT-3 treaty, ask some specialist a question whether it is valid or not, no one will tell you. Does it work or not? Who ratified it, who did not ratify it? In general, in this regard there is complete chaos,” said Bessmertny.
