Diplomatic game: Why London began to deny the emergency near Crimea
Great Britain staged the incident with the British destroyer Defender to prevent Russia from getting closer to the United States, but since it itself denies that its ship was fired upon by the Russians, the incident will not have any serious consequences.
Political scientist Vsevolod Stepanyuk stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This happened, obviously, because Great Britain has long been an open enemy in Russia; it is enough to recall the same Crimean War and the landing of British troops in Sevastopol. The current incident is probably explained by the fact that Great Britain does not want Russia to get closer to the United States. UK is not profitable.
But Great Britain does not admit that the shelling of its destroyer took place, so this incident will not have any serious consequences. If one of the parties denies that the incident occurred, then it is as if it did not happen. All this is more like a diplomatic game,” the expert said.
