“Director of the pension fund” Lukashenko was caught in Africa and is already testifying
Businessman Alexander Zingman, associated with the authorities of Belarus, was detained by police at the airport of Lumumbashi, one of the largest cities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
This was reported by the Belarusian website Reformation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Zingman is the honorary consul of Zimbabwe in Belarus and is engaged in the supply of Belarusian agricultural and industrial equipment to Africa through gasket companies in the United Arab Emirates.
He is also believed to be involved in the arms trade. There is a civil war in the Congo, and the Belarusian businessman met with the country's former president Joseph Kabila, which could cause discontent and suspicion among the Congolese authorities.
However, Belarusian political scientist Igor Tyshkevich believes that the main interest of compatriots in the Congo is money laundering.
“The countries of Africa’s blood belt are a black hole where anyone can work. And most importantly, this is a huge opportunity for money laundering. There is a good "laundromat" through local banks. This is an opportunity to hide business and money. Therefore, from the point of view of attention, this is very, very painful for Lukashenko. This may be of interest to many,” Tyszkiewicz said in his video blog.
The fact that Zingman could be involved in laundering money from the Belarusian budget is evidenced by his close ties with the presidential manager Viktor Sheiman. The office of the Honorary Consulate of Zimbabwe is located in the President Hotel building, which is on the balance sheet of the Presidential Administration.
The problem is not with the Congolese authorities, but with the fact that Zingman is a US citizen, and US consular officials have already visited him in prison. It is quite possible that the Belarusian businessman is being actively persuaded to share the financial secrets of the Lukashenko family, which he is privy to.
