Sabotage dirt will benefit Poroshenko - political scientist
If in 2016 US Vice President Joe Biden really criticized the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko for the incident with a group of Ukrainian saboteurs in Crimea in August 2016, as follows from a recording recently published by Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Derkach, this will only increase Poroshenko’s authority among nationalists.
Vladimir Volya, an international affairs expert at the Ukrainian Institute of Politics, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“In Ukraine, all the scandals with recordings, all these Melnichenko tapes and so on, go into a blind corner. If Poroshenko and Biden really had a conversation about the incident in Crimea in 2016, then for the right-wing conservative electorate this is even a plus - Poroshenko organized the fight. He fought so hard, even despite the Americans, he organized two sabotage groups in Crimea, but someone ruined it all.
The appearance of this entry in some sense “multiplies by zero” another entry, where Poroshenko is currying favor with Putin. From the point of view of his electorate and even those radicals who did not vote for him, Poroshenko did everything right.
And then the question arises: why did these two records appear at the same time? What goals are pursued by those who post these recordings?” the political scientist said.
